Vision 2020
Unnati 2020 Movement
"Train and employ 1 million underprivileged youth through Unnati model by 2020"
This would be achieved through collaborating with other NGOs / individuals / organisations across India, establishing multiple centres. Unnati’s own vision and mission reflects the goals of the nation and working towards realizing the vision of the nation.
During his address at the presentation of National Awards to Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises in New Delhi on 30 August 2008, the Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh said that in the National Action for Skill Development, the country would like to set a goal of training 500 million people by 2020. He emphasized the need to pay more attention in developing the latent potential of the youth in the country in realizing this vision. With one of the youngest populations in the world, India is estimated to have the capacity to create 500 million skilled and trained technicians by the year 2020 and forming a fourth of the global workforce. He added that this bold vision can be realized through coordinated action in which government, industries and training institutions must be co-partners.
